Met Gala 2015: The Best

Every year we anxiously wait for that one night that takes us to far away lands or time periods. We certainly do not own time machines or supersonic airplanes (yet!), but the Met Gala achieves to make us gasp and dream and fly away, year after year. With decadent fashion and the more than exclusive guest list, the MET gala/party/every fashion girl’s dream come true, is certainly fun to watch.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s  annual gala is meant to raise money for the benefit of the Costume Institute and it also serves to mark the opening of the yearly exhibit. This year’s exhibition theme : China, through the looking glass intertwines Chinese culture, history, art and fashion into one exquisite display. Its theme was also the focal point of the gowns and fashion choices of its guests.

From demure to daring, from safe to all out extravagant, this year’s fashion choices did NOT disappoint. I loved how the predominant colour were red and nude. It created a powerful contrast among the ladies. Some certainly stuck to the Chinese theme while others decided to shine with their own style. Here are my favorite choices! Who were your #metgala2015 favorites?

We finally have Ted Baker London in Puerto Rico!!!! I am LOVING the fit on these dresses and they are perfect for a sunny day out or a classy date night! Loving the prints and the baby blue colour!

Isn’t this red trench coat from Burberry perfect? I am definitely adding this little number to my wish list. I have always said that when I buy a trench coat it HAS TO BE Burberry!

I got to create two outfits out and I love the pops of colours on both! I am obsessing over the Joie Navy Blue Blazer because it is casual and perfect for layering over basically any colour top and both the Ted Baker top and Eileen Fisher boyfriend jeans give life to this outfit. The outfit on the right is full Red Valentino. Aren’t those printed yellow pants everything!? Absolutely in LOVE!

As you all probably know by now, DVF is my favourite designer and one of the women I admire the most. Wearing one of her iconic dresses truly makes you feel like the woman I want to become. This romper is so fun and cute!! I love it !

Travel Diary: Chiang Mai

For this week’s travel diary, I will be sharing with you a few pictures of an amazing trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand. This amazing town reminded me of home when I was very, veeeeery far away. The temperature was ideal and there was greenery and mountains everywhere! My favourite part of the trip was getting to meet and spend an entire day with elephants and BABY ELEPHANTS at the Patara Elephant Farm! We learned how to care for these gentle giants and the important role they play in our world. It was truly an amazing and inspiring experience.

We also got to visit the Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai. We did inquire about the care of these tigers in captivity and we were assured by several sources (we researched online as well) that they were not drugged or mistreated. All these tigers are domesticated and therefore used to human interaction and the trainers are very clear when guiding you with instructions on how to engage. After all, they are wild animals so precautions are needed. The Tiger Kingdom was very well kept and clean and we even had the opportunity to see some newborn tigers, although you can’t touch them for health reasons.

Beauty Wednesday: Hydration

Whether in the Summer or Winter months, we all need hydration. Living in a tropical island, hydration is especially important when exposed to the sun on a regular basis. I am a huge fan of hydration ( although I must confess, drinking more water is NOT at the top of my list, but should be) I have tried a number of products in order to achieve that top notch hydration and these are a few of my favorites year round!

Face:

Weleda Skin Food: I love how this deeply moisturising all-in-one cream makes my skin feel. Not only is it perfect for the body, it works wonders when applied to the face. I usually use it before a flight, as my skin can get pretty dry and it moisturizes throughout. It is quite heavy in texture but it sinks into the skin quickly. A Little goes a long way.

Rosehip Oil : I have previously talked about how much I love Rosehip Oil. Now, my skin is combo to oily normally, and this oil does not make me break out . I love how it smells and how light it feels on my skin. It is perfect for daily use, either day or night . My preferred brand is : A’kin Rose Hip Oil.

GLAMGLOW_THIRSTYMUD_Hydrating_Treatment_50g_0_1403706372_main

THIRSTYMUD™ HYDRATING TREATMENT GlamGlow: I am IN LOVE with this deep hydrating mask. It smells amazing, it leaves your skin feeling perfect, and it can be used in so many ways! My personal favourites are either pre-flight or overnight. I will definitely be indulging in the full-sized version.

Body:

00031

Dream Cream (Lush): I have also raved about this cream and will definitely be taking it with me for my next tropical vacation. It feels amazing on the skin and it provides daylong hydration.

Unknown

King of Skin (Lush): I received this little gem as a birthday gift last year and became obsessed with it. It is a “butter bar” and it acts as a moisturizer for the skin during shower time. Use it after washing and lightly rinse it off. Pat dry (gently so the skin absorbs the oil) and it will keep you smooth with no need of lotion!

Lush-Buffy

Buffy (Lush): This exfoliating shower bar is also perfect for hydration. Taking away dead skin cells and leaving the skin moisturised afterwards is perfection in my book! It is not harsh exfoliation (perfect for sensitive skin) and the cocoa and shea butters in Buffy will leave the skin hydrated! No need for lotion after either!

What are your favorite products for hydration?

How to Style: Shorts & Playsuits

rs_560x415-130726152252-1024-shorts-jl-072613_copy

For all my northern friends, Spring  is upon us and pretty soon the sun will shine and warm your skin. I promise!  This spring, shorts and playsuits will be must- haves in my closet. When travelling, I will be bringing a combination of both in different styles and colors. These pieces are perfect for warmer weather because you can either dress them down for a day outing, the beach or simply to lounge around or pair them up with high heels, wedges, a statement necklace and a clutch and you are good to go for a night out! Overall shorts are also a piece I am looking forward to styling  and I can’t wait to wear them! Who said overalls are for 5 year olds!? Ok, they are, BUT, the new overalls going around town, look really pretty on grown up women!  I have added two inspiration mood boards to show my favorites of the season and how I will possibly be styling my pieces!

screen-shot-2014-06-08-at-11-27-03-pm

I am all in for prints this  spring season, especially tribal and floral printed shorts! A good lace short can do no wrong whether is day or night, and how can we forget the basic jean shorts that can be styled with so many different blouses and basic shirts. A statement necklace can really dress it up as well! Just remember the golden rule, if you show legs, cover up top, Less is Always more!

screen-shot-2014-06-08-at-11-27-09-pm

The playsuits that I have added to my wardrobe this spring are both printed and solid bright colors! For a spring/summer vacation, a simple white playsuit is essential because you can pair it with so many other colors and that can save space in your luggage! The more flowy a playsuit is, the more I like it, since being comfortable is what I crave most! Aren’t this inspiration playsuits delightful? The black playsuit reminds me of the LBD, so that means, we need one just like it!

What style is your favorite? Shorts or Playsuits? How would you style overalls?

Fashion Tuesday: Monochrome Olive

For this week’s #OOTD I decided to go for the monochromatic look and use one of my favourite colours of the season : Olive. Although in Puerto Rico it is perpetually “hot”, this look can be easily worn with jeans and an olive toned sweater as opposed to the short sleeve blouse I am wearing. I love this look for the weekend or a laid back night out. There are tons of festivals happening here year round and this look is perfect to maintain a stylish edge while keeping it cool during hot days out.
